A Damara woman and one of her kids trying to teach us how to play a game with rocks and holes in the sand. This was in the context of a "community project" at which we stopped - basically a faux Damara village with some real Damaras to show the very occasional tourists - mostly trucks full of overlanders - around and hope to sell them some crafts at the end of it all. The concept is sound; the Damamra have survived in Namibia's less than hospitable environment for a long time, and continue to do so in their traditional way, but they could benefit greatly from extra cash to cover basic health care and education, and this is one way for them to try to try to accumulate some.
